Summary

Li Feng’s life seems to have been built around humiliation. His college girlfriend, Zhao Yuching, dumped him for the powerful, spoiled Yang Wei. Yang used his family’s influence to push Li away from his dream of studying medicine and into nursing. Even after graduation, Yang continued to taunt him.

One drunken night, Li went to his aunt Ye Lan’s apartment expecting to meet Zhao. Instead, he found Bai Jia, Ye Lan’s close friend, asleep there after a fight with her cheating husband. Mistaking Bai for Zhao, Li sexually assaulted her. Bai later chose not to report him, and the two agreed to keep the incident from Ye Lan.

Li treated her legs with acupuncture, restoring sensation to one of them, and absorbed spiritual energy from her antique hairpin. Luo Tushan recognized traces of Li’s rare technique and wanted to meet its mysterious practitioner. Li tried to keep his identity secret, even inventing a hidden beggar master and sending Ye Lan and Bai on a pointless search through the park.

At Yang Wei’s elaborate proposal party, Li was lured into a setup. Gu Shuman pretended he had tried to assault her, while Yang’s thugs were supposed to help frame him. Instead, the gang recognized Li and backed down. Using a special needle technique, Li made Gu confess on camera that she had framed a university counselor years earlier at Yang’s request. He broadcast her admission during the proposal, turning Yang’s romantic spectacle into a public scandal.

Zhao accepted Yang’s ring but left with Li. She finally explained that she had broken up with him to infiltrate the powerful Yang family for reasons connected to her own family’s past. She revealed that she was a cultivator, too, and that their intimate reunion had helped her break through a cultivation bottleneck. Li made a breakthrough of his own.

Li began working as an intern nurse in the hospital’s OB/GYN department. His supernatural insight helped him diagnose a crying baby’s digestive problem and recognize that a pregnant patient needed a C-section. He also prepared a medicinal acne treatment for his masked colleague, Zhou Linghua.

Meanwhile, the hospital’s old secretary, Qin Zhengrong, suddenly suffered a life-threatening respiratory crisis after someone framed Ye Lan by sprinkling ragweed pollen on her. Li suspected Qin Zhizhong, whom Ye Lan had recently humiliated, and slipped away to help. He identified the pollen and began treating Qin Zhengrong with 49 qi-infused needles, exhausting himself in the process. The subtitles end on a cliffhanger as Luo Tushan leaves the ICU, with everyone waiting to learn whether Li’s treatment worked.
