Episode 1 Recap

Siddhi is preparing to leave her hometown and move to Hyderabad for college. Her best friend, Payal, wants one last night out before Siddhi goes, but Siddhi’s cautious mother is difficult to persuade. Payal claims the group is going to a temple. The story gets increasingly awkward when Siddhi’s mother decides she might come along, so Payal and Siddhi scramble to convince her otherwise—with jokes about whether the “temple” is suitable for young people and what everyone should wear.

Once Siddhi’s mother is out of the plan, the friends head to a club. There, Kartik, who has been trying to get Siddhi’s attention, brings her drinks. Siddhi initially refuses but eventually drinks and becomes heavily intoxicated. Kartik takes advantage of the situation and tries to get close to her. Someone nearby intervenes and slaps him, making him flee.

Still drunk and calling out for Kartik, Siddhi mistakes the woman sitting beside her for him and kisses her. Payal sees the unexpected kiss but can’t make out the woman’s face. Siddhi also appears to bite or scratch the woman’s neck before Payal gets her out of the club. When Siddhi later wakes up with only hazy memories, Payal tells her the startling truth: she kissed a woman.

To keep Siddhi’s mother from finding out, Payal lies that their car has a puncture and that they’ll stay at a friend’s house. The next morning, she gets Siddhi home in time for her train. Their farewell is affectionate and teasing: Payal jokes that Siddhi shouldn’t replace her with new friends, while Siddhi admits she’ll miss her.

Siddhi then travels to Hyderabad, where her aunt collects her from the station and reassures her about starting college. The episode ends as Siddhi arrives at her aunt’s house, with college—and the mystery of the woman she kissed—still ahead.
