Recap

Journalist Demos is investigating an illegal nickel mine in Kalimantan, where workers have died in horrifying, seemingly staged ways. His editor, Andy, dismisses the story as trouble for the company. Soon after flying into a rage, Andy is killed by a mysterious entity. Demos is found near the grisly scene and sent to Labuhan Ang Sona prison.

Inside, Demos is introduced to prison life by Irfan, who explains the hierarchy: the violent drug boss Rendra runs a gang that includes the volatile Bimo and killer Tokek, while the respected prisoner Anggoro tries to protect the other inmates. Demos is assigned to a cell with Tokek, but Tokek is too drunk to attack him that first night. The next day, Anggoro steps in when Tokek tries to humiliate Demos in the showers.

Then the killings begin. Tokek sees a monstrous double of himself and is brutally murdered. Six, who has been plagued by headaches, is the only one who seems to glimpse Tokek walking after his death. Soon, he notices something else: people about to die have red auras. When an enraged cook, Anton, is killed by a grotesque version of himself, the prisoners connect the murders to anger and other negative emotions.

Their survival strategy is as strange as it is memorable: keep your aura from turning red by praying, doing good deeds—or dancing. Anggoro’s group tries to join a dance class, but the instructor, Novalam, is so stressed about the studio being demolished that he sends them away. He then dances angrily on his own and becomes the entity’s next victim. His body is left posed like a dancer, with his intestines arranged as a skirt.

The prisoners suspect the entity came with Demos from Kalimantan. He explains that the mine’s workers were also found horribly arranged, and Anggoro reasons that the spirit may have followed Demos to the prison. When Bimo’s gang tries to kill Demos, a fight breaks out—and Six has to call out red auras mid-brawl. Anggoro even has to dance while dodging Bimo’s blows, while Bimo abruptly drops to his knees to pray when Six warns that his aura is turning red.

The entity kills Jeffrey, the sadistic guard, after Anggoro and Pendi deliberately provoke him with a cutting psychological analysis of his bullying. Meanwhile, the group realizes the ghost may not be targeting Demos at all: it is seeking Prakoso, a corrupt official tied to the illegal mine who lives comfortably in the prison’s privileged Block K.

The prisoners head for Block K and try to provoke Prakoso while fighting his bodyguards and keeping an eye on their own auras. Irfan finally gets through to him by posing as his younger self and reminding him that he once fought for justice before becoming the very kind of corrupt man he opposed. Prakoso smashes his phone in fury, and the entity appears as his younger self, killing him in a gruesome tableau themed around justice. With Prakoso dead, Six can finally see Demos’s golden aura: the spirit has left him.

Their escape from Block K leads to one last showdown with Warden Sapto, who plans to burn Block C to cover everything up. But the guards secretly replace the gasoline with water and turn against him, arresting him instead. Six months later, Demos is cleared by CCTV footage and prepares to return to Kalimantan, while Anggoro expects to be released soon. The two promise to meet again outside.

Standout moments

  • A prison horror story where anger is practically a death sentence—and dancing or praying can be survival tactics.
  • Six’s aura warnings turn tense fights into bizarrely comic interruptions: inmates try to brawl while remembering to calm down, dance, or pray.
  • Anggoro’s deadpan verbal takedown of Jeffrey uses psychology jargon to provoke the guard, with predictably catastrophic results.
  • The murders are staged with macabre theatrical flair, from Tokek’s mutilated double to Novalam’s grotesque “dancer” pose and Prakoso’s justice-themed death.
