PLAYSTATION 5 - NEW PS5 MAJOR UPDATE 15.0 - First feature CONFIRMED!?/ PS5 PS3 DISC Support TEST!…

Possible PS5 15.0 Feature

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Crunchyroll announced a dedicated anime space for the PS5 home screen, planned for spring 2027. It is intended to help players discover anime and anime-inspired games, and access the Crunchyroll app.

The host notes that the launch could coincide with the next major PS5 update, which they expect might be version 15.0. They speculate that the new home-screen space could signal further interface changes, possibly including a previously discussed UI overhaul. Neither the overhaul nor any additional features have been confirmed.

PS3 Disc Test on PS5

A developer involved with the RPCS3 project demonstrated Gran Turismo 5 starting from a PS3 disc on a PS5. The test reportedly uses a game dump stored on the console, allowing the game to run from storage rather than continually reading the disc. The video shows the game starting up but does not include gameplay.

The host says jailbroken PS5s can currently run PS2 and PS3 discs, as well as PS4 and PS5 games. PS1 disc support is not demonstrated. These are community and jailbreak developments, not an announcement of official Sony support.

The host suggests that broad legacy-game compatibility could be a major selling point for a future PS6, while noting that disc support on that console is uncertain. Viewers are also asked whether full PS1-to-PS5 disc compatibility would make them buy a PS6.
