Episode Summary

The episode follows Chris and his friends as they travel back to ancient Jerusalem—and learn that even the best-laid plans may not be the plan God has in mind.

In the present day, Team Quantum is invited to a national robot-fighting competition, but only three members can compete. Chris, who designed their robot, is hurt when the others decide he should stay behind. He insists he should be part of the final battle, and Superbook whisks the group away before he can settle the disagreement.

They meet Solomon while he is preparing to build the Temple. Solomon explains that his father, King David, had wanted to build it, but God chose Solomon for the task: David had been a warrior, while Solomon’s reign would bring peace. David has already prepared the plans and materials, so Solomon can carry out the work. Chris relates to Solomon’s frustration—he, too, had made plans and now feels pushed aside.

The group gets caught up in a political crisis when Solomon’s brother Adonijah tries to take the throne. Bathsheba and the prophet Nathan alert David, who publicly names Solomon as his successor. After a time jump, the friends reunite with Solomon, now king, as he continues building the Temple. At its dedication, Solomon prays that God will hear the people’s prayers there, while recognizing that God cannot be contained in a building.

Back in the present, Chris uses his robot simulations to spot a weakness in the rival team’s machine. Although he chooses not to compete himself, he gives Team Quantum the key idea: exploit the exposed circuit breaker. In the national final, the team’s robot survives the opponent’s plasma hammer and uses the opening to pull the rival robot’s main circuit, winning the match.
