YouTube Summary Is Now Free for Everyone
Today we’re rolling out a big update to YouTube Summary. In short: we’ve removed user accounts and the premium plan: the service is now free for everyone. We’re also introducing a sustainable monetization model so we can keep improving the product for all of you.
What’s Changing
No more user accounts or premium: Access summaries instantly: no sign‑up, no paywall.
- Free for everyone: The core experience is now open to all users.
- Unlimited under fair‑use: You can summarize as much as you need, but aggressive automated usage and spam will result in a ban to protect the service for everyone.
How We’ll Sustain the Service
We’re shifting to a simple, transparent monetization strategy:
- Ads: Light, respectful advertising will help cover infrastructure and AI costs.
- Amazon affiliate program: Our summarization pipeline can surface relevant products or resources when appropriate. When it does, we’ll generate tailored Amazon searches and may earn a commission if you purchase through those links: at no extra cost to you.
This approach lets us keep the product free while aligning incentives with better, more helpful summaries.
What’s Next: Better Summaries
We’re actively improving quality by expanding our video categories and fine‑tuning prompts for each type of content (tutorials, lectures, interviews, reviews, explainers, and more). This will help the AI capture the right structure and extract sharper insights depending on the video style.
